Medical marijuana backers will push to make it an issue at the polls
by Doug Cunningham
Backers of medical marijuana in Wisconsin say they'll push hard to make it an issue in this year's elections. With a new public opinion poll showing more than 80 percent of Wisconsinites support medical marijuana, Gary Storck of Is My Medicine Legal Yet? says the issue could carry surprising weight at the polls this year. "We're gonna do our best to make this a
campaign issue this year," Storck said. Storck says a medical marijuana bill will be reintroduced in the next legislative session and his groups hopes to see it pick up support. "We also hope by then we'll have a governor who's not going to sit on their hands like Scott McCallum does and we're hoping there will be a governor - maybe Ed Thompson or perhaps
somebody else - who will push this issue through personally," Storck said. Storck says legalizing the use of medical marijuana is the people's will and for thousands of state citizens it would mean the
difference between a miserable existence and a better quality of life. For more information on the poll and the medical marijuana issue go to the web at www.immly.org/poll.htm
